Mary Ellen Alton
Secretary
Having managed a small business for over 11 years, Mary Ellen Alton brings management and organizational strength to the MSSG board. Her extensive volunteer activities with the Escondido Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club have honed her abilities to work effectively with people and to set and meet goals.
In Ms. Alton’s community involvement with the Chamber of Commerce, she served as President of the Ambassadors, who represent the Chamber at various public events. As a Member of the Chamber Board of Directors and Chairman of the Marketing and Membership committees, her energy and enthusiasm helped boost the membership to over 1,000. In 1993, she was chosen Ambassador of the Year and then in 1995, Volunteer of the Year. As a means of giving to the community, Mrs. Alton works with the Kiwanis Club on community projects such as hands-on work projects like renovating shelters for abused women and children and sprucing up local parks.
When she served as president of the club, she managed weekly meetings with 80 members and coordinated the activities of the various committees. She is on the Board of Directors, is chairman of the marketing committee, and is director of marketing for Kiwanis Division 37, which includes 17 area Kiwanis Clubs in the district, consisting of the states of California, Nevada, and Hawaii.
The Kiwanis Club of Escondido selected her Kiwanian of the Year for 1998-1999. In the past two years, she represented the Kiwanis Club in community projects benefiting the residents of MSCH. She participates in the Christmas party for Mountain Shadows Community Homes residents and the yearly Circus Day program.
Ms. Alton’s reputation of community commitment, her ubiquitous presence in the Escondido and San Marcos communities, and her record of success are an indispensable contribution to the MSSG Board of Directors.
