Richard Marrs
President
In his 22 years in the insurance industry, Dick Marrs has gained extensive knowledge and experience through specializing in insurance coverage for agencies that serve persons with developmental disabilities.
Mr. Marrs’s insurance savvy will be an asset to MSSG. Operating facilities for the developmentally disabled offers a unique set of exposures in an industry unlike others. Specific insurance programs must be created because of the special needs and involved legal ramifications. Because he currently handles insurance coverage for the facility, he is familiar with the operations, clients, and staff. In addition, his 10 years of work with the Home of Guiding Hands Corporation – an organization serving over 150 developmentally disabled consumers with over 24 individual houses, provides him with unique knowledge and skills to apply as a board member for MSSG.
As an eight-year Board Member and Immediate Past President of that corporation, he has learned the challenges and issues of supporting a high quality of life through business strategies. Mr. Marrs is also an active volunteer and supporter of other agencies who serve developmentally disabled individuals, such as United Cerebral Palsy.
He was honored as one of Mountain Shadow’s Persons of the Year to celebrate his efforts on behalf of the center. As past chairman and steering committeeman for the Mountain Shadows Golf Classic, his efforts were integral to raising over $100,000 in enrichment monies.
